"Stand Alone" is the seventeenth short from the second season of Rooster Teeth Shorts. It was uploaded on October 9, 2010.
Summary[edit | edit source]
The short begins with Brandon receiving a phone call from Gus, who says that he cannot show up to work due to an emergency. He asks Brandon to guide around his "replacement", which is simply a cardboard cut-out of himself. Geoff overhears Brandon telling Gus his plan will not work. He mistakes the Gus cut-out for the actual Gus and asks why Brandon is yelling at Gus. Joel and Burnie also fall for it and suspect that Brandon and Gus are keeping secrets.
When Joel, Burnie and Geoff try to ask the Gus cut-out questions and get no reply, they begin to wonder what is different about Gus and suggest that he may be working out. The short then cuts to a montage of the three spending quality time with the Gus cut-out. Eventually, they all fight over who gets to spend time with the cut-out. At the end of the episode, it is revealed that the real Gus is at home making cardboard cut-outs of Geoff, Burnie and Joel. He then starts to play a game of strip poker with the cut-outs.
