Description Edit

As a surprise to year-long subscribers, Field Notes released a subscriber-only booklet and opened a penmanship competition for the Spring "Semester" 2017. The booklet is designed to imitate an 8-page "blue book" exam booklets, often used in schools for essay responses in relation to tests and exams[1]. The edition number groups this release with "Utility" (FNC-34)

According to the letter in this release, the "Field Notes Correspondence Schools" was holding a final exam and competition. The letter gives instructions on submitting an essay to relate "a notable dramatic or humorous event that happened to you while you were in elementary or high school." Extra credit was given for a series of rhyming couplets related to the same event.

The competition prize included 2 awards in which the randomly-drawn winners would receive: a run of 250 customized Field Notes with winners' logos; a personally signed copy of Aaron Draplin's "Draplin Design Co.: Pretty Much Everything" book; and a free, one-year renewal to Field Notes Quarterly.

The letter was signed by Jim Coudal, Dean of the Field Notes Correspondence Schools.
