Parameters[edit source]

Parameters in bold are required fields.

Parameter Explanation
title / RTitle The title of the episode. Title is automatically put within quotation marks, unless RTitle is used.
series The name of the TV series this episode is part of, with a link to the series' main article. Series name is automatically italicized.
image An image, if needed. Wikilinking, "File:", and pixel size not required. Remember, virtually all TV screenshots are copyrighted, they must be uploaded in a low resolution, and be accompanied by a fair use rationale. There is no blanket allowance for an image per episode. A non-free screenshot should only be used if it meets the Wikipedia:Non-free content criteria, i.e. typically if it is required to illustrate a crucial element of the episode that is the object of explicit, sourced analytical commentary and where that commentary is in need of visual support to be understood.
image_size Image size in pixels. Should be 250 or less. If not specified, image defaults to frameless (220px). "px" is not required.
alt Alt text for image per MOS:ALT.
caption A caption explaining the image.
season / series no The number of the season (or series) this episode is part of. Use either Season or Series no, but not both. Typically, "Series" is used for television series produced within the United Kingdom while "Season" is used for American television series.
episode The number of the episode within the season.
multi_episodes A parameter to alter select wording of the infobox when used for mutli-part episodes with the same title.

writer The writer(s) of this episode. Separate multiple people using {{Plainlist}}. In addition, link each writer to his/her appropriate article if possible.
story The writer(s) of the episode's story. Separate multiple people using {{Plainlist}}. Use this field instead of the normal writer field if television episodes divide writing credits between teleplay and story writers.
teleplay The writer(s) of the episode's teleplay. Separate multiple people using {{Plainlist}}. Use this field instead of the normal writer field if television episodes divide writing credits between teleplay and story writers.
narrator The narrator(s) of this episode. Separate multiple people using {{Plainlist}}. In addition, link each narrator to his/her appropriate article if possible.
presenter The person who fronts (hosts) the show.
producer The producer(s) of this episode. As television episodes typically have several credited producers, not all of whom had a direct role in the production of the episode, it is advisable to just include the show runner(s). Separate multiple people using {{Plainlist}}. In addition, link each producer to his/her appropriate article if possible.
music The music of this episode. Separate multiple songs using {{Plainlist}}. Television episodes often include numerous songs; only include the most notable (typically songs playing during key scenes).
photographer The director(s) of photography of this episode. Separate multiple people using {{Plainlist}}. In addition, link each director of photography to his/her appropriate article if possible.
editor The editor(s) of this episode. Separate multiple people using {{Plainlist}}. In addition, link each editor to his/her appropriate article if possible.
production The production code or number of this episode.
airdate The original airing date of the episode; use {{Start date}}
length The original length of the episode in minutes. It should indicate runtime (without commercials), or with commercials.
awards Awards won by the episode.
guests Guest star(s) of this episode. Separate multiple people using {{Plainlist}}, or bullets (*). If using bullets, include the character the guest actor portray in the episode after his/her name in the infobox (using a single space, "as" and another single space: "<actor> as <character>"). Provide a link to the appropriate article if possible. Only guest actors in notable roles should be included in the list.
season list A template containing a list of episodes in that season. Use either Season list or Prev/Next, but not both.
prev / RPrev Wikilink to the previous episode. If an article does not exist, link to the season with an anchor to that episode, see Template:Episode list for more info. If this is the first episode of the TV series, leave blank. Use either Season list or Prev / Next, but not both. Title is automatically put within quotation marks; unless RPrev is used.
next / RNext Wikilink to the next episode. If an article does not exist, link to the season with an anchor to that episode, see Template:Episode list for more info. If this is the last episode of the TV series, leave blank. Use either Season list or Prev / Next, but not both. Title is automatically put within quotation marks, unless RNext is used.
episode list Wikilink to the "<showname> (season #)" and/or "List of <showname> episodes" article(s).

Controlling line-breaking in embedded bulletless lists[edit source]

Template {{nbsp}} may be used with {{wbr}} and {{nowrap}} to control line-breaking in bulletless lists embedded in the infobox (e.g. cast and other credits lists), to prevent wrapped long entries from being confused with multiple entries. See Template:Wbr/doc#Controlling line-breaking in infoboxes for details.
